R F Greasby (London) Limited

This well known South London firm of Auctioneers, Greasby’s, was founded in 1919 by Henrietta Greasby, and has operated from the original site since then to the present day.

The firm was incorporated in 1958 and has been in the same partnership since 1968.  The present Managing Director, Christine Sachett assumed overall control of the company in 1995.  She is also the company’s principal Auctioneer and Valuer.

The business of the company is divided as between the Haulage Division, which provides transport ranging from transit vans to 7 1/2 ton vehicles, complete with drivers; and the Auctioneering Division which handles the sale of Antique and Modern furniture and effects, for a wide variety of clients including Local Authorities, The Treasury Solicitor, Various Airline Operators, H.M. Revenue & Customs and various others.  Auctions are held weekly and catalogues are available by subscription and also here on our Catalogue page.  

Greasby’s is particularly concerned to achieve the best possible prices for its clients, and probably uniquely amongst auctioneers informs and advises prospective buyers of lots which will be of interest.  The Company has a devoted hardcore of regular buyers from many areas of trade and commerce who support its sales.
